He interviewed six groups of 50 men each: homosexuals convicted of offences with adults, paedophiliacs convicted of offences with children, homosexual patients under psychiatric treatment, non-homosexual psychiatric patients, other homosexuals to whom none of the foregoing qualifications applied and a group of nonhomosexuals who had not received Psychiatric treatment nor been convicted of homosexual offences. The findings obtained are impressive and a large mass of data is handled very neatly and efficiently to deploy useful comparisons. As to his actual findings, those who are arrested for homosexual acts with adults resemble the general prison Population in other ways; paedophiliacs have more pronounced heterosexual interest than the homosexual groups?many of them strove to avoid temptation and only turned to boys in moments of stress. In all groups, a considerable proportion had had homosexual experiences in childhood but these experiences did not appear to be a factor determining the development of adult homosexuality; in all groups, there was a considerable frequency of disruption of the home during childhood, but in the homosexual groups there was a particular increase in the frequency of inadequate, detached or absent fathers and of domi-
